STUDIO POLICY

What is the cost of lessons and are there additional fees (books, exams)?

The cost varies depending on the length of the student's lessons. For further information, please feel free to reach out to me directly. This will also be discussed during the trial lesson. Students are responsible for purchasing books and signing up for exams with the guidance of the teacher.

How does billing and payment work?

Tuition is charged by the semester rather than on a per-lesson basis. This structure provides consistency, supports steady progress, and simplifies scheduling. Each plan is tailored to the student based on lesson length and the number of lessonsPayments are typically due at the start of the month and may be made as a single lump sum or divided into two or three installments. Please note that each student's tuition will be adjusted based on the number of lessons remaining in the semester at the time they join. For more information, please feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to go over the exact details of your plan.

For the summer semester, tuition must be paid as a single lump sum.

All lessons are paid in advance.

Studio Semester Outline:

Fall Semester: September - January

Winter Semester: February - June

Summer Semester: July - August

Where will the trial lesson be held?

The initial meeting is always held online via Zoom. This session allows me to assess the student, learn more about their musical background, set up scheduling, and answer any questions. Please note that moving forward, in-person lessons are available as an option.

How long are lessons and how often are they? â€‹

Lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions. They occur at the same time every week. Sign-up for a free trial lesson to see which option is the most suitable for you.

What is your cancellation and make-up policy?

If a student is unable to make a lesson for any reason, they should contact their teacher by text or email as soon as possible. To keep scheduling consistent and fair for everyone, make-up lessons are never guaranteed. That said, if your child cannot attend in person but is still available at their regular time, we can easily switch to an online format for that week. Please note that "no-show" absences will not be offered a make-up day or a refund.

What happens if my child is sick?

Students who are unwell must not attend in person lessons. If a student is sick but still well enough to participate, an online lesson must be arranged ahead of time. If a student arrives to an in person lesson showing signs of illness, they may be asked to wear a mask or be sent home to rest. In that situation, a make-up lesson will not be provided.

What happens if the teacher has to miss a lesson?

In the rare event that I need to cancel a lesson, I will contact the student by text, call or email and a make-up class will be arranged.

Are holidays taken into account in the lesson schedule?

Yes, holidays and breaks will be determined at the beginning of each semester. Tuition rates will account for this.

What if I need to terminate lessons?

The decision to terminate lessons should always be discussed with the teacher to fully explore options and to prepare for a suitable exit. Jocelyn Chong Music reserves the right to terminate a student's lessons at any time under the following circumstances: inappropriate behavior by the student or their family member(s), excessive unexplained absences, or failure to make tuition payments on time.   â€‹â€‹
