About Me

Jocelyn Portrait Headshot.JPG

Jocelyn Chong is a passionate and dedicated piano teacher based in Mississauga, Ontario. She loves helping students of all backgrounds. Jocelyn holds a Bachelor of Music in French Horn Performance from the University of Toronto, where she studied under Nicolas Hartman. Although her formal training was on a different instrument, the comprehensive musical knowledge she gained translates seamlessly to the piano—an essential instrument for developing a strong musical foundation.

During her time at U of T, Jocelyn performed in a variety of ensembles, including woodwind quintets coached by Peter Stoll (clarinet) and Leslie Newman (flute). She was a member of the Wind Ensemble which was directed by Dr. Gillian MacKay and Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds. In addition, she performed as a guest with the Hart House Symphonic Band. Her versatility extended to musical theatre as well, where she played in the pit orchestra for Into the Woods, produced by Hart House Theatre. Beyond the university, Jocelyn performed with groups such as the Oakville Symphony Orchestra and the Greater Toronto Philharmonic.

After completing her degree, Jocelyn joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a military musician. She currently plays French horn with the marching band and has performed in numerous engagements, ranging from street parades to seated concerts. This experience has further enriched her musicianship, deepened her discipline, and broadened her performance background—all of which she brings into her piano teaching practice.
